about us
An Introduction.
Highly ethical and socially conscious of our environmental impact, Gocashmere is dedicated to ensuring minimal influence of our business activities on both society and nature.
Want to know more? We’ve put together our code of ethics and guidelines below.
Our Social Responsibility.
Every decision has an impact. That’s why our decisions are based on the ethical principles of economic, ecological and social reasoning. Creating a lasting foundation for our company’s future, we believe in treating the world around us, the people we encounter and the welfare of our animals with the utmost respect, in order to protect these resources for future generations. We are committed to improving sustainability across all aspects of our business by researching and implementing the latest developments and technologies to reduce our wastage of raw materials, energy, water and chemicals. It’s important that we positively shape our environment and business actions to have minimal impact on the environment.
Our Corporate Responsibility.
We never lose sight of our corporate responsibility. We believe that quality cashmere should come from ethical production with honest prices and this is at the heart of our corporate decisions. It determines our choice of suppliers, our partners and influences our decisions - Our criteria are strict because of this reason and we ensure our corporate principles are never compromised as a result. Fair employee working conditions, Environmental protection and social justice are therefore also the prerequisites for our cooperative partners and are monitored ongoing.
Our ethos and the expected attitudes of our business practice are communicated clearly to our employees and they are sensitized to the necessary behavioral requirements around ethical practices and anti-corruption in order to comply with our business requirements. Gocashmere works with the BSCI (Business Social Compliance Initiative) to ensure these high standards are maintained and that as a business we ensure we are doing all we can to educate ourselves, our partners and our employees on the core ethics our business was built upon.
Animal Ethics.
We are committed to ensuring the wellbeing of the animals at the source of our fine wools and fibres, protecting the environments in which they live. We choose our farms for their quality and the humane welfare of their happy animals, ensuring that all of our suppliers can verify the origins of their raw materials. We do not use genuine skins or angora materials for ethical reasons and all of the animals associated with Gocashmere are free from hunger, thirst and malnutrition.
Protecting Nature.
Responsible and future-oriented action is an important aim from an ecological perspective. Future generations need their resources protected and so we run our business with this in mind.
Our cashmere and wool begin their lifespan in the meadows. Not only do we comply with the national and local guidelines, we are also extremely keen to reduce the use of chemical additives in the cultivation of the raw materials that we use and, where possible, dispense with them altogether.
Cashmere production can use large volumes of scarce water, and a large amount of global production takes place in locations with high levels of water stress. We monitor our use of water in our production process consistently and are committed to reducing our water waste further.
We are constantly working with, and investing in, the most modern of technologies to produce our items in a sustainably conscious way. Our production meets compliance with ecological standards to create safer working environments and less environmental impact. Our yarns and materials contain little to no chemical substances to keep our items as pure and organic as possible for our production team and our customers.
The dyeing and finishing of our Gocashmere materials is carried out in compliance with strict standards. Colourants such as AZO, which are known to be toxic, are not used in the manufacturing of our products.
A crucial safety aspect, we are proud to say that we are able to meet our responsibility for employees and customers in this critical point of production, to ensure that health and our natural environment is protected to the highest degree possible. Waste is disposed of responsibly and the reduction of CO2 emissions is a requirement of our manufacturering partners. We would always insist our partners to take their ecological responsibility seriously and to introduce the necessary measures to ensure optimal sustainable conditions. Thats why all of these aspects are monitored closely by international organisations under our certifications.
Conscious Cashmere.
We are proud to work with many different natural fibers, including cashmere and wool, and are fully committed to ensuring the welfare of the animals providing us with these materials. Our partners and suppliers provide respectful and humane environments, void of any tourture or miscrultey. Tested by animal welfare groups, the grazing techniques associated with cashmere goats center on genuine love and respect for the animals.
Dedicated herders move their free-roaming animals season to season to ensure their sheep and goats are enjoying vast expanses of natural land, without contributing towards the sustainibility issues of over-grazing. Our certifications require the close monitoring of our cashmere providers, to ensure they meet the necessary standards expected of them to be considered appropriately sustainable.
Saying No To Waste.
Balancing a need for sustainable but reliable packaging is something we are working hard to constantly improve. Your cashmere is valuable and needs to be delivered with care and protection. With an ongoing aim to continuously reduce our packaging material, we are evaluating all areas in which we can improve our carbon footprint. Our employees recycle all of the reusable materials we come across, and we are constantly exploring ways in which we can minimize our environmental impact.
That's why we have changed our packaging materials to be 100% recyclable. We only use planet-friendly materials such as cardboard to ensure your Gocashmere packaging is biodegradable and kind to our planet.
Your cashmere itself is also a step towards sustainability. Our cashmere garments are designed with slow fashion in mind - simple, luxurious and good quality to stand the test of time. The quality of our products enables you to enjoy your cashmere products for years, contributing towards a sustainable lifestyle. Once your cashmere has come to the end of its life, our wool is a sustainable, renewable product and 100% biodegradable.
An Inclusive Culture.
Cultural diversity. Equal Rights. Social Tolerance. Respect for all.
People are at the heart of everything we do, and that's why Gocashmere is fully committed to maintaining the key moral pillars of our corporate culture. That’s why we categorically condemn the use of child or forced labor within worldwide society, ensuring our employees work in safe environments for a fair wage. Our manufacturing partners must be BSCI-certified to comply with our high standards.
- International standards for working conditions and salaries are set, implemented and strictly monitored. Everyone should be entitled to a dignified life, and this is an essential prerequisite for positive social development at the heart of Gocashmere.
